What Is The Difference Between A Rock Bolt And A Soil Nail?

Welded Mesh for Coal Mine Supporting

Welded coal mine supporting mesh is made by welding steel wires together to form a grid-like pattern. This mesh retains the walls against falling rocks and ensures the safety of the miners during drilling, and also protects them from loose scaling in the mines. Flush cut edges improve handling, installation, and maintenance of safety standards. The service life is extended due to the anti-corrosion properties. It can perform well in the safety protection of coal mine roadway, tunnels and other facilities.

Underground Mining:
Roof Support: This is one of the most common applications. Welded wire mesh is secured to the mine roof (ceiling) using rock bolts or other anchoring systems. It helps to:

Prevent roof falls by containing loose or fractured rock.

Distribute load and prevent localized stress concentrations.

Stabilize the roof strata and prevent further deformation.

Provide a surface for shotcrete application, improving its adherence and reinforcing effect.

Wall Support: Similar to roof support, welded wire mesh is used to stabilize the walls of tunnels and stopes (excavated areas).
Prevents wall collapses and rock bursts.

Contains loose rock fragments.

Provides a stable surface for shotcrete.

Rib Control: In longwall mining, welded wire mesh is used for rib (wall) control to prevent coal ribs from sloughing off or collapsing into the walkway.

Shaft Linings: Welded wire mesh can be incorporated into the linings of vertical and inclined shafts to provide structural reinforcement and prevent rock falls.

Ground Stabilization in Development: Welded mesh is used extensively during tunnel or drift development to immediately stabilise the ground before permanent supports can be installed.

Slope Stabilization within Underground Mines: Where ramps are used, mesh can be used to prevent slippage on inclines and slopes.

Protection of Underground Infrastructure: Mesh can be used to protect underground infrastructure like piping and electrical cabling from damage.
